LOIS MEETING – MINUTES

That the Minutes of the meeting of Nov. 15, 2011 be adopted as distributed by email.   Carried

Treasurer’s Report (Shelly Thierman):  Bank Balance: $583.35

Discussion: Shelly reported that the proceeds collected at the Annual Christmas Social, coupled with further collection of membership dues provided enough funds to cover the cost of the Christmas Social ($2114) and leave LOIS with a bank balance of $583.35.  72 people attended the Christmas Social.   Moved by:  Shelly Thierman    Seconded by: Garry Harrison that the Treasure’s Report be accepted.  Carried.

Committee Reports

Education: (Don Lewthwaite)   No report

Golf Tournament: (Wayne H.) No report

Membership:  Shelly Thierman reported that nearly all of the membership dues have now been collected.

Old Business:  Curling Funspiel.  Loretta McFadden reported that the Curling Funspiel to raise funds for Inn From the Cold is scheduled for Saturday Feb. 4, 2012 at the Winfield Curling Club.  So far 11 teams have entered and there is room for more.  Teams can help out by collecting pledges of cash or by making donations of new outdoor winter clothing.  Jo-anne Haun added that the charity is very much in need of help and, on behalf of Inn From the Cold, she thanked the LOIS membership for their efforts thus far.

New Business:  None

Correspondence: Charlie Cohoe read a letter from the Kelowna Food Bank thanking LOIS for the donation of cash and food following the Annual Christmas Social.

Guest Speaker:   Jim Denton introduced Garry Harrison of ReClaim who spoke on “The Art of Photography” and provided technical advice to the members on the latest equipment.
